hello I am here very early. You can call me Rocky or whatever. I've been into goth stuff for a long time and have been involved in the subculture itself for, uh, about 6 or so years? depending on your definition of involvement. There's no in-person goth club scene around me atm (I'm trying to change that but local venues are weird about the idea idk I think it's just because nobody around here is familiar enough with it) but I used to go to a lot of goth nights at clubs and other things. I like goth fashion but I'm no like, authority on it. I do love DIY and putting spikes in things and putting together outfits that may or may not read as goth. I'd say I'm more under a New Romantic style or standard punk. I thrift just about everything I wear and then do whatever I want to it to style it. I have multiple feet of chains at any point in time sitting around my desk to attach to normal outfits. Either way. I'm not a big labels person I just like thinking about it and how the subculture is so large and has so much history that often goes ignored (or misinterpreted). not in a gatekeeping way because that's exhausting but in the "I don't like the objectifying goth gf meme trend that comes around every couple years". whatevr
I'm a giant music enjoyer though. I tend towards darkwave, post-punk, and 80s goth rock but I genuinely think every genre has something to offer and really just listen to what i'm in the mood for... My favorite bands change all the time but the ones that tend to stick around in the rotation are The Cure, NIN, Orgy, This Cold Night, Bauhaus, Boy Harsher, Night Club, Interpol, La Texana and uh. a lot more. I'm not immune to groovy danceable beats.
I am a person that is prone to being melancholic. as much as that is a stereotype. I will romanticize the general sadness of the world until I die. If you put some kind of metaphor or trope about people being miserable but finding love in the misery I will eat it!!! I love thunderstorms and my favorite weather is right before it hits and everything is gray and you can feel it in the air. I love nightmares and dreams and supernatural things and catharsis.
