Hello everyone!
What's some good starting points for goth music for you? The "fundamentals", the "must have listened to at least once in your bat lifetime" tunes? Do you have any playlists or just recs, artists to really understand the genre, everything counts!
I really wanted to hear from you guys and and see all the different opinions, and I'll try to check everything out

I know many of their songs are debatably "goth", but of course Bauhaus, Siouxie and the Banshees, Joy Division, The Cure. If something more modern, maybe The Birthday Massacre. At least it was a huge stepping stone for me in 7th grade.

Hi!! So albums I would recommend, the obvious first pick is Juju (1981) by Siouxsie and the Banshees. It's a classic! And a great introduction to Siouxsie and the Banshees. Although my personal favorite album is 1978's The Scream, Juju is easily their most popular album. Twilight (1993) by Corpus Delicti is another one of my all time faves! Disintegration (1989) by The Cure is another absolute classic. The Sky's Gone Out (1982) by Bauhaus is possibly one of the first goth albums I ever heard, I remember my dad playing it for me when I was younger. It's definitely a good place to get into goth music! I hope this helps, and that you have fun on your gothic music discovery!! <3 <3

I'd check out Echo & the Bunnymen, The Psychedelic Furs, Alien Sex Fiend, Depeche Mode, The Damned, Sisters of Mercy, Christian Death, London After Midnight and Fields of the Nephilim!

Okay dropping by for a long due quick update. As of now I've checked out Juju, which I did love, it was great and definitely like. In line with the stuff I listen often to, which was awesome. I checked out The Scream too which I guess should probably relisten to. Not a big fan of Corpus Delicti and Joy Division but it was nice listening to new stuff either way, thank you for recommending them to me. Esp since Joy Division is considered p important for music so, I like. Still feel a bit more cultured now. I also have been really enjoying The Psychedelic Furs and London After Midnight, and for the rest we'll see X) I'm really slow in checking new stuff out, I change moods too often but I wanna make sure to listen to a bit of everything and finish with the already given recs.
I've also found myself orbitating towards Gothic Metal, though I haven't listened to any specific artists yet. If anyone would like to give more recs, I'd love to hear them!

Yay! I'm glad you liked juju and the scream <3
I totally understand not going to hard for corpus delicti, they're not most peoples first choice.
Oh my god I have been listening to soooo much psychedelic furs lately!!! What's your favorite song? I think mine is 'love my way' from forever now!

If you liked Gothic Metal then give Macbeth's Vanitas album a try! The Merry Thought's Psychocult album has a pretty aweosome TSOM vibes, was one of my first goth albums i obsessed over ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) as for Can't Miss Out type of albums, even if theyre recent Go check out Twin Tribe's Ceremony. There's tons of playlists on YT, Spotify, ETC with all the classics and must have's, i reccomend to search those up and then lurk on reddit's R/goth where they share a buuuunch of songs

Also damn well there's just a lot of good songs of theirs tbh where to even start. The one I have in loop would definitely have to be Alice's House, though I feel like I enjoy the early version a lot more. Close second is definitely President Gas. Ohh, Heartbeat and Aeroplane too. My time also. And Danger is also so, so good. Definitely top faves. I'm slowly checking out from album to album so it'll probably grow but yea Alice's House clears rn tbh-
